Gary Taylor

Gary Taylor is a civil engineer who has specialised in rural transport in developing countries. He has particular experience in the preparation and monitoring of sector programmes in the road and transport sectors. Prior to joining itt in 1992, he had worked for over 12 years as a technical adviser on road and rural infrastructure projects in Ghana, Malawi, Nepal Lesotho, and Kenya as well as 8 years in UK on roads, bridges, structures and airports projects. Over the last decade, he has become increasingly involved in the institutional, economic and governance issues surrounding the development and maintenance of infrastructure at the local government and community levels as well as in central government. He also has extensive experience in all aspects of the application of employment intensive methods for infrastructure development, including roads. He has frequently led teams to design, monitor and evaluate projects and has managed several longer-term technical assistance programmes.
